March 8, 2016: Morningstar Residents Enjoy Visit From 'Cat In The Hat' -It’s Fun to Have Fun! – The Cat in the Hat visited Morningstar Residential Care Center to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a party for the residents in the facility’s Great Room. [click here to read complete article]


Feb 12, 2016: Mardi Gras Celebration -N’Orleans jazz music filled the air as the residents of Morningstar Residential Care Center donned colorful masks and hats and enjoyed some jambalaya as they celebrated Mardi Gras in Morningstar’s Great Room.[see complete article on iheartoswego.com] The celebration was one of many themed activities that Morningstar hosts for its residents.


Feb 2, 2016: Happy Hour! -Leo and Mabel Amyotte enjoyed a toast to 71 years of marriage during Happy Hour at Morningstar Residential Care Center. A recent addition to Morningstar’s many themed activities, Happy Hour brought residents together as a group in a casual atmosphere to enjoy their favorite beverage or cocktail and each other’s company.


Jan 29, 2016: Let it Roll! -Strikes and spares brought plenty of smiles to the residents of Morningstar Residential Care Center who participated in the monthly bowling outing. A number of residents enjoyed a trip to Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego for lunch and an afternoon of bowling. Jan 27, 2016: Monthly B-Day Party -Happy Birthday! Barbara Blake recently celebrated her 91st birthday as part of the monthly birthday party at Morningstar Residential Care Center. Dec 9, 2015: Holiday Sing-A-Long With Santa -Residents at Morningstar Residential Care enjoyed a morning of hot cocoa, Christmas carols and holiday favorites during Sing-a-Long with Santa. The sing-a-long helped kick-off the final countdown to Christmas. Nov 16, 2015: Morningstar Honors Vets at Veterans' Day Luncheon -Proud veterans gathered to reminisce, share their experiences and honor their fellow veterans as Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego hosted a Veterans’ Day Luncheon to recognize its residents that bravely served their country in the United States Armed Forces.[see complete article on iheartoswego.com]


Nov 5, 2015: Special Halloween Treat -Residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center received a special Halloween treat when students from Mrs. Deloff's 3rd and 4th grade classes at the Oswego Community Christian School stopped by for some Halloween fun. Students dressed as literary characters from their favorite books and shared stories with the residents. Additionally, students created wooden flowers in art class and presented them in vases to the residents.[see complete article on iheartoswego.com]


Oct 28, 2015: Everybody Sing! -The newly formed Morningstar Resident Choir recently entertained the staff at Morningstar Residential Care Center with its debut performance. With a theme of “A Salute to Fall” the Resident Choir, under the direction of Morningstar Activities Aide Terry Ehli, sang a number of lively tunes that elicited plenty of hand clapping, foot stomping, and a rousing round of applause from the staff members.[see complete article on iheartoswego.com]


Oct 26, 2015: Costume Party -Director of Activities Kelsey Rose (l) and Activities Aide Doreen Shortt(r) make the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich during the Halloween Costume Party at Morningstar Residential Care Center. Residents enjoyed live music, dancing and a luncheon with family and friends. Sept 30, 2015: Breakfast is served. -Residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center recently enjoyed their first breakfast at the “Morningstar Diner”. Held in Morningstar’s Great Room, the new event treated residents to the full diner experience that included an extensive breakfast menu and made to order omelets. The “Morningstar Diner” is one of the newest additions to the many themed activities that Morningstar Residential Care provides for its residents. Sept 22, 2015: Happy Birthday! -Happy Birthday! Wilma Coles celebrated her 90th birthday as part of the monthly birthday party at Morningstar Residential Care Center. Morningstar hosts a monthly birthday party in its Great Room for all residents celebrating a birthday that month.[see complete article on iheartoswego.com]


Aug 20, 2015: Tasty Celebration. -Residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center were treated to a Banana Split Cake Social in celebration of National Banana Split Day! A recent addition to the center, the great room, provides a comfortable setting for lunches, dinners, and special occasions. July 7, 2015: Fish On! -Residents of Morningstar Residential Care Center recently enjoyed a trip to Minetto for a picnic lunch and a leisurely afternoon of fishing along the banks of the Oswego River. The outing was one of several off-site activities that Morningstar Residential Care Center provides for its residents.


June 30, 2015: Coaches vs. Cancer, Kick It to Cancer -Olivia Peel a participant in the Coaches vs. Cancer Kick It to Cancer Soccer Tournament recognizes Joe Murabito, president of Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego for his support of the annual event. Held recently at the Richard J. Benjamin Memorial Soccer Complex in Oswego, the tournament raised a total of $3,800 for the American Cancer Society.[see complete article on iheartoswego.com]


May 21, 2015: Muy Bueno! Cinco de Mayo at Azteca - Mexican delicacies and margaritas made for an exciting lunch outing for residents from Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego. The lunch outing to Azteca Mexican Grill in Oswego was one of several Mexican themed events and activities offered the residents as part of Morningstar’s celebration of National Nursing Home Week.[see complete article on iheartoswego.com]


May 13, 2015: Morningstar celebrated Cinco de Mayo - Mariachi Music filled the air as the residents of Morningstar Residential Care Center celebrated Cinco de Mayo with quesadillas and margaritas. Tasty burgers, golden fries and ice cream was the order of the day as residents from Morningstar Residential Care Center enjoyed a lunch outing to McDonald's. Apr 10, 2015: Morningstar Welcomes SUNY Oswego Students - SUNY Oswego students participating in university’s Adopt-A-Grandparent program recently visited residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center. Apr 3, 2015: Easter Fun - Morningstar Resident Emily Dumas (l) displays the cross she made during the Easter arts and crafts activity at Morningstar Residential Care Center. The residents made a variety of Easter and spring themed decorations to brighten up their rooms.


Mar 20, 2015: Irish Eyes A Smiling! - Irish music, corned beef sandwiches, and plenty of green beverages and desserts made for lots of smiling faces at Morningstar Residential Care Center’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration.


Mar 16, 2015: It’s Fun to Have Fun! - Morningstar Residential Care Center celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a party for the residents in the facility’s new Great Room that provides a comfortable setting for lunches, dinners, and special events. May 30, 2014: Relay for Life BBQ: Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego recently hosted a chicken BBQ fundraiser for the upcoming Relay for Life event. The facility’'s kitchen staff prepared full BBQ chicken dinners that were available to all staff members. All proceeds from the event benefited the American Cancer Society’'s Relay for Life. May 16, 2014 Oswego Library: The Friends of the Oswego Library Business Membership Program received some much welcomed support from the Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego. According to Joe McManus, board president for Friends of Oswego Library, the Business Membership initiative is to encourage community involvement and to help support the many programs that the library provides. May 16, 2014: Sit & be Fit: Residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center filled the community room recently for their first Sit and Be Fit exercise class. Lively music and a variety of chair exercises kept feet tapping and hands moving as the residents followed an exercise regime that was both challenging and fun.
